I am flying the G200 internationally out of CYYZ. Destinations have included some high-density destinations and include KSFO, KSJC, KSDL, CYVR, CYYZ, CYKF, CYYJ, KTEB, KPSF, KTPA, KFXE, KFLL, KBCT, KORL, KAPA (5800 ft elevation), KFPR, KSFB, KOPF, KDPA, TNCM, MYNN, MKJS, MWCR. The jump from my previous flight time has been more difficult than I at first imagined, and its been a great challenge learning the glass cockpit. But, life wouldn’t be the same without challenges, would it? I am continually learning my way around the flight guidance control panel (FCP), the display select panel (DSP), the electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) and the primary interface, the flight management system (FMS). In today’s modern cockpit, it’s very important to understand the relationships when working with the Control Display Unit (CDU), the EFIS and the Mode Control Panel (MCP) which subsequently allow full integration with the Mission Computer (FMS). I comfortably interact with the FMS for enroute functions and plan accordingly for approaches into dense airspace. While at FL410 we avoid much of the weather below us, but still use WX Radar for the build ups during decent, especially prevalent along the summertime eastern seaboard, Florida and the Caribbean ocean. We have regularly gone OCEANIC enroute to TNCM and use runways that challenge us with weight restricted takeoffs, especially in hot weather. Real-world flying like no other.
